Initial Oral Examination
Your initial oral examination includes a visual examination, oral cancer screening, charting, periodontal probing, diagnosis and treatment recommendations. We will also take x-rays, which may indlude a panoramic x-ray for proper diagnosis of the anterior (front) and posterior (back) teeth.
Sealants
A sealant is a clear or shaded plastic material that is applied to the chewing surfaces (grooves) of the back teeth (premolars and molars), where 4 out of 5 cavities in children are found. This sealant acts as a barrier to food and acid, thus protecting the decay-prone areas of the teeth.
Bonding
Bonding or a composite restoration is a resin filling that is tooth colored. The material is chemically and mechanically bonded to the tooth. This type of restoration allows your dentist the ability to conserve as much natural tooth structure as possible.
Implants
Implants are synthetic structures that are placed in the area of the tooth normally occupied by the root. Implants are anchored to the jawbone or metal framework on the bone and act as a foundation for an artificial tooth or permanent bridge. In some cases implants can be used to attach dentures.
Veneers
Veneers serve to revitalize worn, chipped and stained teeth. They are thin veneers of porcelain that are bonded to your teeth. Once properly bonded into place by your dentist, they become strong restorations that are resistant to staining and chipping. We can take misaligned teeth and make them straight and make a discolored smile into a beautiful bright smile that will not pick up stains with porcelain veneers.
Crowns and Bridges
Crowns sometime referred to as “caps,” are a type of restoration which completely covers the tooth. It can be made of either a combination of metal and ceramic or it can be compromised completely of ceramic material. A bridge is made up of two crowns on either side of the gap – these two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth and a false tooth is put in the middle. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants. Each type of restoration has a specific indication for its use.

Root Canal Therapy
This is a procedure where the pulp, comprised of nerves and blood vessels, is removed from the tooth. Usually, trauma or decay will cause the pulp to die and require this type of treatment. Once the pulp is removed, the canals are shaped, sterilized and sealed to prevent further infection.
Extraction
Simple Tooth decay that has damaged enough tooth structure to prevent anything from savint the tooth is the most frequent indication for extraction of teeth. Usually when you lose a tooth, it is best for you oral health to have it replaced. Missing teetch can affect your bite, as well as your ability to speak and chew. Their loss can increase the burden on your remaining teeth and cause extra wear on teeth, headaches and muscle pain in your jaw.
Dentures
Complete dentures are called “conventional” or “immediate” according to when they are made and when they are inserted into the mouth. An advantage of immediate dentures is that the wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing period. A conventional denture can be made once the tissues have healed which takes about 6-8 weeks.
